Summer 2008 Programs
Welcome to the Summer of 2008 in Windham! There are many exciting programs planned this
year for all ages to enjoy. To register for programs, please attend one of the Summer
Registration Days listed below. Registrations will not be accepted prior to these days, except for
Water Games, Tennis Time/Tennis Games, Liquid Planet, Kids Cooking, and The Court Jesters.
Please note our Registration Policy:
Residents have priority in programs, and Non-Residents are welcome as space allows.
Payment is due at the time of registration. There are no refunds after registration. Thanks!
Checks can be made payable to: The Town of Windham. To expedite your time at Registration, feel
free to fill out a registration form ahead of time and bring it with you (Please note you may write one
check for all programs, EXCEPT for swimming lessons and basketball clinic; a separate check and
registration form is required for these programs). After the registration dates, please contact

Steve Blunt Family Concert
When: Friday, June 27th

Where: Griffin Park (by the Multi-Use Building)
Rain site: Windham Town Hall (if inclement weather a decision will be made by 4 pm if concert

Windham Family Day at LIQUID PLANET WATER PARK
Dont miss out on this! Join us on Saturday, June 28th beginning at 10 am. Meet us at NHs
newest and hottest family water park in Candia, NH. Cost is $10/person (under 2 is free) Dont
miss out on the spray ground, the waterslides, and the swimming pool. Purchase tickets from
the Rec Office no later than June 7th. There will be giveaways and fun opportunities at the
event! Tickets on sale now!
Parent/Child (ages 5-11) Tennis-Time
When: Mondays, June 30 and July 7

Wacky Water Games for Ages 3-9

Basketball Clinic with The Court Jesters for youth entering Grades 1-8

Info: Join the world famous Court Jesters for a one hour clinic followed by a fun game.
Dont forget your sunscreen, water/juice. Bring a basketball if you want! You will also have the
opportunity for autographs, photos, and souvenirs at the end of the program.

Plaster Masks Rule! Crafts for ages 5-11

Info: Kids will have a blast creating a mask as they learn about the history of mask
making from around the world. Using rigid wrap plaster, acrylic paint, and fun odds-n-ends for
embellishment, kids will create fabulous masks to wear home!
Mad Science Show-Marvels of Motion

Info: Learn how to make unique pieces of jewelry using the versatile medium of polymer
clay. You will make 2 fabulous pieces to wear home or give as gifts.
End of Summer Water Carnival for youth up to Age 10
Join the lifeguards on August 13th from 11-1 pm for some fun at the beach -
water and beach games, and snacks! Rain date is August 14th.

Reminder: for group use of the beach, an application needs to be filled out and approved by the
Recreation Coordinator. Applications are available at the Beach or from Recreation Office.
SWIMMING LESSONS INFORMATION
The Recreation Department offers American Red Cross swim lessons taught by certified instructors at
the Town Beach during the summer. Lessons, unless otherwise noted, are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and
Thursdays for two weeks. You must pre-register for this program. Please note that all beach policies
are in effect during swim lessons. Lessons are held rain or shine. Lessons are for Windham
residents/taxpayers only. No refunds after registration. Space is limited! Parents must stay at the
beach for ages 9 & under. To register, attend one of the Summer Programs Registration days listed
below. Please note that a separate check and registration form need to be filled out for swimming
lessons. You can sign up for both sessions or just one! Thanks!
Session I Swim Dates: July 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17
Session II Swim Dates: July 29, 30, 31, August 5, 6, 7
Weekday Parent/Tot for ages 6 months 4 years. This class is for 20 minutes and the cost is
$10/session for the weekday class. Class will build swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the
water. Parents/caretakers will participate in guided practice sessions to help the child learn to blow
bubbles, enter the water, float, and more! There is a maximum of 10 per class with two instructors.
(Note: this is NOT a Red Cross certified class.)
Saturday Parent/Tot A for ages 6 months-3 years. This five week class is for 20 minutes and the
cost is $10/session for this Saturday class. Class will build swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in
the water. Parents/caretakers will participate in guided practice sessions to help the child learn to blow
bubbles, enter the water, float, and more! Space is limited.
Saturday Parent/Tot B for ages 3-4 years. This five week class is for 20 minutes and the cost is
$10/session for this Saturday class. Class will build swimming readiness by emphasizing fun in the
water. Parents/caretakers will participate in guided practice sessions to help the child learn to blow
bubbles, enter the water, float, and more! Space is limited.
Splish Splash for ages 3 & 4. This weekday class is for 30 minutes and the cost is $15/session. It
will introduce participants to the water, begin to learn basic swim skills, and be in a class without a
parent. The goal is for the children to have fun in the water and want to learn how to swim! There is a
maximum of 15 students per class with 4 instructors. (Note: this is not a Red Cross certified class.)
Parents must stay at beach during the class.

TENNIS 2008 AT GRIFFIN PARK

YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS
Lessons for ages 5-15 are held at the Griffin Park Tennis Courts for two weeks, meeting Monday
through Thursday, with a rain day of Fridays. There are two instructors per class, with a maximum of
14 players in a class. Each player is asked to bring one sealed can of tennis balls and a tennis racket.
You must pre-register for this program. You can sign up for only one week, but it is recommended to
sign up for a session in order to get the best experience possible. However, if you do sign up for only
one week, it is recommended to sign up for the first week of a session. For ages 5-7, parents must
stay at Griffin Park during lessons. To register, attend one of the Summer Program Registration
Dates. There are no refunds after registration. Please note that these are recreational lessons-class will
consist of warm-up, drills, instruction, and a fun game. In case of inclement weather, call the
Recreation Office at 965-1208 after 7:30 am and there will be a message on the voicemail if class is
cancelled. If one class is cancelled, all classes are cancelled. We will do our best to get a message on
the voicemail by 7:30 am - but sometimes New England weather is tricky!
